Never Get Tied Up

There are many tips and pieces of advice we can impart to help you in a self defense situation, but there are some that stand out as particularly important. This is one of those.

Women, children, the elderly, the frail – this applies to all! Never, ever, EVER let yourself be tied up!!!

Attacks, abduction and rape can happen anywhere, however most victims are grabbed within 10 miles of their home and the first 30 minutes are the most dangerous for the victim. Your decisions and actions in the first few seconds and minutes of the attack can literally save your life.

One crucial decision you must make is to never allow your freedom of movement to be restrained. Take whatever action you must to ensure this.

Your attacker will have to get physically close to you and will attempt to gain control. He wants to bind or handcuff you because he’s scared to do what he wants to do with an unrestrained victim.

Your chances are better if you scream, run, fight, or all of the above rather than allowing yourself to be bound. Once the kidnapper gains control of you physically, they most certainly do NOT have good intentions

If they are not planning to harm you right then and there, they will use your restraint to get you off the scene and to a location where you will not be found. Depending on the attacker, they may also beat you or drug you, with both actions making it easier to control you and transport you.
If this is an abduction, your attacker may also blindfold you. Blindfolding is done for three reasons: to keep you from recognizing your attacker in the future, to dehumanize you, and to make you feel afraid and unable to control the situation.

As long as you are conscious and able to move, there is a chance to escape, so avoid being tied up at all costs.
