7 Safety Tips You May Not Know

  1. If your car has a key fob, keep it close to your bed at night. If you ever hear something in the middle of the night and feel something isn’t right, set off your car alarm. This is a good first line of defense and could scare somebody away.
  2. Never save your home address in your GPS. Start your GPS when you’re by a gas station, or anywhere else besides your home.
  3. This is something you should know, but I still see people doing it a lot. Stop posting in real time on social media. This can give other not so nice people your location. If you must post, take pictures and video and post them later.
  4. This goes with number 3. You would be surprised how much information you can find out just from backgrounds in photos. So, never post in front of your house, dorm, apartment, school, work, and so on.
  5. Before you swipe your credit or debit card, always give the machine a wiggle. Especially at gas pumps. There is technology out there that looks just like a keypad but is just a cover to steal your information.
  6. Never give out information on an inbound call. There are a lot of scams going around, so you want to make sure you know who you’re talking to, and that they are the person you think you’re talking to.
  7. And lastly. Change your passwords a few times a year. And don’t make your password your birthday, password, or anything too easy to figure out.
