3 Things You Need To Do To Become a Better Fighter

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO DO TO BECOME A BETTER FIGHTER
Of course, you should always try to avoid a fight in the first place. Fighting is a fool’s game, but sometimes you can’t avoid it. If that is the case, and you are forced to fight, here are 3 fighting tips to do it better.

1. LEARN HOW TO HIT HARD
Give yourself the best chance in a self defense situation by learning how to hit hard. You can end a fight with one good shot, such as a punch to the face, throat, solar plexus, kidney or even the groin. Ideally you will hit hard enough to debilitate your attacker for long enough to escape and run away.
As well as working on your physical strength and fitness generally, the best way to learn this is to practice. You could consider buying yourself some gloves and a heavy bag or a punching dummy to practice your punches. When you work out on a heavy bag or a punching dummy, it gives you the feedback you need to let you know when you’re hitting hard.
But if you don’t have access to one of those things you could practice with shadow boxing, just make sure you bend your legs and you put your entire body weight into each punch. Remember the power of your punches comes from your lower body.

2. LEARN TO AVOID GETTING HIT
The second thing you need to do is learn how to avoid getting hit. You never want to let a guy get up in your face because it’s too easy for him to sucker punch you. If you do get into a fight or need to defend yourself, make sure you keep your hands up by your face. This way, you can drop back with a simple boxing fade to avoid almost any kind of punch.
Also remember, you don’t want to stand with your feet square and then bend at the waist, like in the Matrix. Rather, have one foot forward and one foot back then drop your weight to that back leg to avoid a hit or grab.
The other way to avoid getting hit is just to cover your head. This is a basic boxing move, and it’s very difficult to knock someone out when they are covering their head.

3. AVOID GETTING TAKEN TO THE GROUND
Bad things can happen on the ground, so increase your chance of getting home safely by avoid getting taken to the ground by your attacker. He could be bigger than you or stronger than you. He could be good at wrestling or grappling. Or he could have other friends who can jump in when you’re vulnerable. So as a rule, stay standing in a fight. Stay firm on your feet, and make sure you keep your elbows down so it’s harder for him to charge into you.
