A Realistic Look At Self Defense for Children

I just read somewhere that a father wants to get his 5-year-old daughter trained in Krav Maga.
Let’s examine this.
At the age of 5, a typical child is about 43 inches tall and weighs about 43 pounds, according to the CDC.
The average man is 5′ 8″ tall and 197 lbs.
A 5-year-old is innocent, easily coerced, curious, thinks everyone is nice, and is open to suggestion.
And even if they AREN’T these things…
The average man is approximately 4-5 times stronger than the average 5-year-old.
The 5-year-old cannot introduce weapons, or manipulate joints.
Even if a small child is properly trained in martial arts, that child will not be able to stop a full-grown man who is highly motivated.
That’s why it’s important to arm kids with self defense techniques that can actually save them.
